Like many small picturesque towns, Gananoque supports a vibrant community of artists. It is important to us to make Manse Lane an ongoing contributor to the arts scene through patronage, word of mouth promotion and the display of art in our home. Whether you appreciate music, the visual arts or theatrical performances, Manse Lane provides ideal lodgings within walking distance of many local arts venues.

Bruce and Seonaid are patrons of the Thousands Islands Foundation for the Performing Arts which is the governing body for the playhouse. Bruce was recently appointed to the Board of the Foundation. In August we were pleased to sponsor 80 local youth to attend a matinee performance of the Molly Coddlers at the Thousand Islands Playhouse.
In a unique partnership with local painters and Cracker Crumbs studio, each of our common rooms features works by local visual artists.

In April we are pleased to welcome works by Bill MacKintosh, Amanda Pinkerton, Kathrine Christensen, Laurie Sponagle, Peter Montgomery and Pam Staples -- a remarkable group of Eastern Ontario's visual artists.

Kingston's Bill MacKintosh's work includes abstract expressionist pieces with gold, silver and copper leaf on canvas. All the way from Mallorytown, Laurie Sponagle has contributed two of her charcoal abstract pieces, but she is also known in the B & B world for her marvelous depiction of chairs and we are hoping to get her back to Manse Lane soon to draw more of our lovely antique chairs.

April's installation includes several pieces from Gananoque's Kathrine Christensen, including her Gan River fish series, in ink, acrylic and gold leaf plus a striking landscape over our dining room mantlepiece. Also from Gan, our neighbour Peter Montgomery has loaned a Saskatchewan landscape from his Dear Hazel series. Lansdowne's Amanda Pinkerton, who works in paint and pastels, has loaned several of her equine pieces, landscapes and scenes from Charleston Lake.

Cracker Crumbs Studio's Pam Staples has coordinated the installation of local artists' works at Manse Lane and she has also contributed several of her own playful, colourful works. Pam will be opening her studio/gallery on Market Street in the coming weeks and we hope that you will visit her soon!

Our collection changes throughout the year as we spotlight different works. The works on display at Manse Lane are for sale, so if you see something you like, don't hesitate to ask us about it. Who knows? It might just become a permanent reminder in your home of your wonderful visit to ours!
