Manse Lane welcomes flying Santa - 5 Dec 08
While preparing for his annual global gift logistical tour (aka Christmas) Santa Claus paid an early reconnaissance visit to Gananoque today. Flying a WWI vintage bi-plane with an open cockpit, Santa toured local downtown stores and residential areas before landing on the roof of Manse Lane (see photo).
"Santa's bi-plane was a fun way to spruce up the holidays," said Bruce Davis, co-owner of Manse Lane, Gananoque's oldest bed and breakfast. "He's a nice addition to the neighbourhood and we encourage people to walk or drive-by to check him out."
The Manse Lane Christmas decorations, including Santa and his bi-plane, were the brainchild of Pam Staples, a local artist and owner of Cracker Crumbs studio. "Pam has done a wonderful job putting this together," said Davis. "She is already plotting next year's display!" Santa will be on display at 465 Stone Street South until mid-January, 2009.
